Farmers’ Perception of Causes and Consequences of their Indebtedness in Haryana, India

Abstract Subject and purpose of work: The study aims to highlight the perception farmers regarding causes consequences their indebtedness. Materials methods: was based on primary data collected (by field survey) from a sample 600 farmers. With regards selection or respondents, proportionate sampling technique employed. Percentage used for analysis. were in first quarter 2021. Results: It found that 95.67% (out 600) reported low prices agricultural output as being main cause indebtedness, followed by crop failure (89.00%), high cost inputs (85.00%), interest rates (61.17%) small landholdings (58.83%). In addition, loanee deterioration social status (67.83%) psychological stress (57.67%). However, positive changes experienced after repaying loan less than negative experiences. Conclusions: farmers’ indebtedness compared price produce. Due economic deteriorated they feeling insecurity.
